A CREW doctor gently adjusting a young child

Parents bring their kids to CREW for all kinds of reasons: a toddler who keeps tilting their head, a nine-year-old with sore knees from soccer, a teenager hunched over a phone. Many parents are curious about chiropractic for kids but aren’t sure what it involves, or whether it’s gentle enough. Here’s what a visit actually looks like.

How gentle is it?

Very. Care for children looks nothing like adult adjustments. For babies, the pressure is about what you’d use to check whether a tomato is ripe. For older kids, techniques are gentle and specific, and there’s no twisting or cracking unless it’s appropriate for their age and comfort.

A parent or guardian stays with their child the whole time.

What we check

For babies

  • How your baby moves their head and neck, and whether they favor one side
  • How they lie, kick and reach
  • Their spine and hips
  • Your concerns about feeding, sleep, fussiness or how they’re developing

For kids and teens

  • Posture, especially for kids who spend hours on screens or carry heavy backpacks
  • How they walk, run and move
  • Sports aches and minor injuries
  • Growing pains and sore joints

Questions parents often ask about

Parents often come in asking about things like reflux, colic, latch trouble, sleep, or a baby who seems uncomfortable. We’ll do a gentle exam, tell you honestly what we find, and explain whether we think we can help.

Chiropractic is not a replacement for your pediatrician. We work alongside them, and if anything in our exam points to a medical issue, we refer you.

Call your pediatrician or get urgent care first if your baby under three months has a fever, isn’t feeding or has fewer wet diapers than usual, is unusually sleepy or hard to wake, or if any child has trouble breathing, a stiff neck with fever, or pain after a fall or injury.

When kids benefit most

Sports

Young athletes pick up the same aches adults do: sore knees, ankle sprains, shoulder pain from throwing, back pain from repetitive sports. We check how they move, treat what hurts, and give them simple exercises so they can keep playing.

Screens and backpacks

Hours looking down at a phone or tablet, and heavy backpacks slung over one shoulder, add up. We look at posture and teach kids small habits that help.

After a fall

Kids fall a lot. Most falls are nothing. If your child is sore for more than a day or two after a tumble, a gentle check is reasonable. Any head injury, loss of consciousness or severe pain goes to urgent care first.

How old does a child need to be?

We see newborns, toddlers, kids and teenagers. There’s no minimum age. Dr. Eric and Dr. Mallory have advanced training in pediatric care.

What a first visit looks like

  1. You tell us what you’ve noticed and what you’d like help with.
  2. Your doctor does a gentle, age-appropriate exam while you’re right there.
  3. We explain what we found in plain language and answer your questions.
  4. If care makes sense, we start gently and keep you involved at every step.

Common questions

Is chiropractic safe for babies?

When it’s done by a chiropractor trained in pediatric care, it uses very light pressure and is adapted to the child’s size and age. We start with a gentle exam and explain everything first.

Do kids need x-rays?

Rarely. We only recommend imaging for children when the exam clearly calls for it.

How often will my child come in?

It depends on why you came. Some families come for a few visits; some come regularly during a sports season. Your doctor will suggest a plan.

Can I bring my child to my own appointment?

Yes. Many parents do, and some kids get checked at the same visit.
